World Map: Subdivisions

The World Subdivisions map features all first-level subdivisions (provinces, states, counties, etc.) for every country in the world.

The map has been updated with more subdivisions (mainly small island states). For quick coloring, find a map configuration file here that you can use to randomly color the whole map by country.

You can also use W,A,S,D,I,O on your keyboard or the controls on the right.

You can still switch colors, click on subdivisions to paint them, etc.

Step 1: Coloring/Editing the Map

Select the color you want and click on a subdivision on the map. Right-click on it to remove its color or hide it.

Hold Ctrl and move your mouse over the map to quickly color several subdivisions. Holding Ctrl + Shift has the opposite result.

Color all Subdivisions of a Country

Select a country and click COLOR COUNTRY to color all its subdivisions with the selected color.

Color Multiple Countries

Fill the field below with the abbreviations of the countries (comma-separated) you want to color on the map and click COLOR COUNTRIES.

Search for a Subdivision and Color it

Search for the subdivision you want and click COLOR SUBDIVISION to fill it with the current Fill Color. To remove the color of the selected subdivision, choose REMOVE COLOR .

Isolate One or More Countries

Fill the field below with the abbreviations of the countries (comma-separated) you want to isolate on the map and click ISOLATE. All other countries will be hidden. Use the zoom tool to enlarge the map and center it on the remaining countries.

Step 2: Choosing the Legend

Add the title you want for the map's legend and choose a label for each color group. Change the color for all subdivisions in a group by clicking on it.

Drag the legend on the map to set its position or resize it. Use legend options to customize its color, font, and more.

Step 3: Getting the Map

When ready, select Preview Map. To download the map: Right click > Save image as... or select Download Map.

If you want to change something, select Edit. To start over, select Clear All.
